The Act of Play
Type | Public, Outdoor, Playspace
Location | Belgrade, Serbia
Year | 2020
Block 18 is a unserviced settlement located on the west river bank of Sava in Belgrade. The neighborhood has developed without any planning. There are no public or communal spaces exist in Block 18. Also, no spaces and facilities are provided for children to play together.
The intervention, therefore, aims to create a play space for children with different spatial conditions which does not specify a certain way of play. The intervention is planned in the waterfront park which borders Block 18. The spatial conditions promote the development of physical abilities of children by encouraging them to perform movements such as climbing, balancing, jumping, crawling and hanging.
